October 2021 Virginia History Hunt Highlights
A small private group just spent four days metal detecting numerous historical properties in Virginia that witnessed colonial times and the Civil War. Detectors used were the Minelab Equinox 800, Minelab CTX 3030 and XP Deus. The weather was very cooperative for the most part. Ground conditions were a bit dry but not as bad as they could have been. The group made discoveries ranging from 6000+ years ago to the 20th Century. Some of the pictured highlights are: quite a few dropped and fired Union and Confederate Civil War bullets; Civil War buttons including two Confederate South Carolina Coats, one Militia Virginia Coat and one local made North Carolina State Seal Coat; Native American projectile points of different types and material; Colonial artifacts including a large and heavy duty military sling buckle; several old coins including a holed colonial copper of some type and Civil War relics including an Enfield rifle nose cap and an artillery percussion cap. Enjoy!
