Spring 2024 Virginia Metal Detecting Outing
Recently, a very small group of club members got together for three days of metal detecting on several different private properties with documented history. Civil war and colonial artifacts were recovered by all on each of the three days. These included a variety of Civil War relics - dropped and fired Confederate and Union bullets, musket parts, and other camp-related relics. Lots of colonial-era artifacts were also discovered including flat buttons, knee buckles, a well-worn mid to late 18th century Spanish silver half reale, silver buckle piece and lots of other housesite related bits. The weather was mostly good, and the small team had a blast saving some history!
